Net als in Nederland zijn ook op de Belgische automarkt de effecten van de nieuwe WLTP-regeling nog niet uitgewerkt. De autoverkopen lagen daardoor bij onze zuiderburen in oktober bijna zestien procent lager dan een jaar eerder.

Over de eerste tien maanden staat de teller in België nog maar net op een plus van bijna drie procent. De verkopen van lichte bestelwagens kwamen de afgelopen maand echter wel twintig procent hoger uit.
“Heel wat auto’s die nog een NEDC-homologatie – de oude keuringseisen – hadden, werden tijdens de zomermaanden vervroegd ingeschreven om ze uit de voorraden te verwijderen. Die marktanticipatie laat zich nog steeds gevoelen, en de terugval met 15,2% de voorbije maand – hoewel kleiner dan in september – moet daarmee in verband worden gebracht,” schrijft auto-organisatie Febiac.

Rijk en provincies verwachten in 2019 ruim 5,9 miljard euro aan wegenbelasting te innen, bijna 0,2 miljard euro meer dan in 2018. De belastingopbrengsten stijgen met name door een groeiend wagenpark. Dit meldt het CBS op basis van onderzoek naar de begrotingen van provincies voor 2019.

Het Rijk verhoogt het tarief net zoals Flevoland, Groningen en Friesland. Zeeland verhoogt het opcententarief, de provinciale toeslag voor de motorrijtuigenbelasting, met 8,3 procent. Deze tariefsverhoging en meer auto’s op de weg zorgen voor ruim 4 miljoen euro hogere inkomsten voor de provincie in vergelijking met 2018.In acht van de twaalf provincies verandert het opcententarief niet.
